hey guys!

I hope you are all enjoying being back at uni, or for those that arent students; the new year!

as it is a new year NASA leadership has changed hands.

We were all invited to attend a meeting to vote for the new leadership team.

As a result of this the positions are as follows.

President: Damien Clarke

Vice President: Emma Grace

Social/Activities: Evelyn Wegner

Communications: Irene McQuade

We would also like to say that if you would like to help the team in any of the above areas it would be greatly appreciated and even though you do not have a position on this team, you are just as importatnt as the people that do!

So I am hoping that everyone is looking forward to and getting excited about the upcoming events our team will be organising, for us and our walk with God!

Much love Reeni

One of the challenges we were given on leadership training involved spending a significant amount of time each day in devotion to God. There are so many exciting ways to do this…poetry, prayer journals, Bible Study, music…an explosion of possibilities…but there are also some devotional books out there that can give you a bit of a place to start. This is one such simple book to start your day with, written by the Women of Faith conference speakers, Patsy Clairmont, Barbara Johnson, Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindoll, Sheila Walsh and Thelma Wells. The layout involves simple stories from the day to day lives of these women; three little stories and anecdotes on a theme, followed by promises from the Word of God itself! I think it’s important to find how these promises can apply in life, and reading these promises and stories can give you a point of reference in your own life or on a specific day where you can let God’s wordin! These promises can be starting points for memory verses; where to start reading when you’re flicking through your Bible and can’t find a sticking point to attend to. It is quite girly, but if that’s your thing it’s a refreshing way to start your day! Note: If you would like to borrow this book, leave a message in the comments or contact us!

tHe GrEaT cOnTrOvErSy: a review

So, the Great Controversy. It sounds great, and it sounds controversial. It certainly took me a while to read. But what is it? The Great Controversy is a book by Ellen G White about what happens post Biblical times. What’s been going down in the Christian Church since the apostles? Ellen G White looks at the people who stood strong in their faith during the tough times; who fought for the truth despite extreme persecution across the centuries. Inspiring biographies span time and Europe, and include Hass and Jerome, Martin Luther, John Wesley, John Wycliffe. Of particular note is the history of the Waldenses, who spread the gospel through Scriptures, at a time when they were banned, through the universities. Talk about student ministry! Photos from Christian churches around the world at different points in time, accompany this history, following the trail of symbols and traditions. These set of photographs and evidence are both inspiring on matters such as the Sabbath, and disturbing as they track the integration of symbols into church tradition. The big advantage I found to this book was it reveals to you the bigger picture; something bigger than our generation, our church, or any situation that we might find ourselves in. It shows us that the Holy Spirit operates to preserve the truth, to give strength under oppression against the odds, and gives confidence to the closing chapters of Jesus’ soon return in glory. Packed with Scripture references, this book presents the evidence. Intense? yes…but very worthwhile and faithbuilding.
